ChatGPT’s Opinion on SEO for 2023 + More

With ChatGPT becoming the catch name of the year, we wanted to test it out with some basic questions. One question we wanted to ask was about SEO, specifically in 2023. We wanted to see how ChatGPT looked at SEO in 2023 and see what its thoughts were and whether they aligned with ours.

Let's have a look:

Gosh, if we had a dollar for every time someone published something about SEO being dead. In fact, it's been said so many times that it really isn't worth talking about anymore. SEO is anything but dead but let's see what ChatGPT thinks:

Very aligned with not only our thinking but also the results we're seeing. It's always a good laugh when someone calls SEO dead yet here we sit, looking at the results we achieve. In fact, perhaps it's a good thing, the more people who think SEO is dead, the less competition there is and the better results we get!

Whilst looking around on LinkedIn the other day, we came across a good opinion piece on artificial intelligence by Daniel Cater, which we'd like to share:

Years ago GOOGLE GLASS was going to transform how we got data and how we interacted with society.

Years ago SEO was touted as being dead because of the uptake of social media and because of the perceived lack of value as the market filled with people no good at it.

Voice search was going to revolutionise how we search - people would be able to book appointments, shop, transact all with voice search - gone would be the days of using Google search results.

80% of my feed is chatGPT talk - would be great to see the buzz die down a bit now. An amazing innovation built off the back of slave labour - Google senses a rug pull and rushes out BARD.

No AI isn't going to stop peoples browsing habbits overnight - people have been using search engines for 25 years - in that time there has been HUGE innovations in tech, but if I want to buy a cheap set of golf bats - I'll stick with Googling "Best Golf Bats" and then ultimately buying them on eBay.

AI might transform the aggregation, collection, processing and delivery of information - but, people's intrinsic browsing habbits would take YEARS to change.

SEO will continue to flourish, content writers will adapt to using AI as a tool, developers may use AI to better understand code bases, construction etc.

Ultimately - how we interact, transact and browse will continue as it is for many years yet.

I'm still waiting for the METAVERSE to transform my life.

All in all, SEO is anything but dead, copywriters are still crucial and it's going to be quite some time before a robot takes over creativity. We don't change that quickly, think about the pandemic, it changed us but we went back to our old ways incredibly quickly. We're creatures of habit and change is scary.

Don't believe all the hype, pay attention but act with thought.
